Here are more of my illustrations for the FPL's Summer Reading Calendar showing a bit of the process including initial concepts. We worked through several revisions before settling on the more analogous colors in the environment and flattening the image making it more shape based. The tree is a reference to the INTERACTIVE WALK-IN TREE DESIGN I did for the library's children's department last year. More info on the tree project in my BLOG ARCHIVE. The bottom image was the first design for the Summer Reading Calendar and was never used. I'll be posting more designs, concepts, revisions, and final pages from the July calendar in the upcoming weeks. Click on the images to make them larger.
This little character's named DIG in line with a national theme (Dig Into Reading) promoting not only literacy but the various programs available this summer at the Fayetteville Public Library. Special thanks for layout collaboration by FPL's marketing manager Brandi Holt and DOXA designer Ryan Slone.
