Back in early April I posted some sketches from the Acropolis in Athens from a March trip to Greece and Macedonia. Here are a couple of sketchbook drawings from Macedonia. The bottom pencil drawing is from the interior of Sarena Dzamija mosque located near the Pena River in Tetovo, Macedonia originally built in 1438 and rebuilt in 1833. Unlike the traditional Ottoman style, this very ornate mosque is adorned with lavish floral paintings and does not have a distinctive exterior dome.
The top two sketches are the same image rendered in different media (pencil on the left and pen and ink on the right). These sketches are from a visit to Lake Ohrid, Macedonia located between southwestern Macedonia and eastern Albania. Lake Ohrid is one of Europe's oldest and deepest lakes and home to over 200 endemic species.
